Description
'Brevet til Kjaerleiken' ('Letter to Love') is Sigrid Moldestad's fourth solo album and a tribute to Norwegian poet and children's writer, Jan-Magnus Bruheim on the 100th anniversary of his birth in 1914. With original music set to the text of Jan-Magnus Bruheim's poems, Sigrid Moldestad has created a challenging and beautiful album that is both rhythmically driving and at times full of melancholy longing.
Playing Hardanger fiddle and singing, Sigrid is backed by four incredible musicians on acoustic instruments - fiddles, guitars, Jews harp, langeleik (zither like instrument), harmonium, and drums. What could be termed as a stylistic intersection between folk, pop and roots music, 'Brevet til kjaerleiken' is a work of art that transcends stereotypical folk themes and has wide audience appeal.
The title of the album is taken from his book of poetic prose about love in all of its manifestations. Sigrid Moldestad is from the same county as Jan-Magnus Bruheim and most of the album was recorded in the old school house by the sea in Bremanger where he lived.
