Description
One of the acknowledged architects of the Nashville Countrypolitan Sound, pianist Floyd Cramer is known for his instantly-identifiable, signature 'Slipnote' style.
Alongside guitarist/producer Chet Atkins, Floyd was perhaps the most important figure in Nashville's celebrated 'A' Team of session players.
This unique 2-CD set presents the very best of Cramer's solo recordings between 1954-62 on Disc 1, while Disc 2 showcases his work as a session player.
Disc 1 includes all his major solo hits, 'Flip Flop & Bop', 'Last Date', 'On The Rebound' (which topped the UK charts), 'San Antonio Rose', 'Your Last Goodbye', 'Chattanooga Choo-Choo', 'Hot Pepper', 'Java', etc.
Disc 2 features Floyd backing artists like Janis Martin, Marvin Rainwater, Conway Twitty, The Everly Brothers, Jim Reeves, Chet Atkins, Hank Locklin, Skeeter Davis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Marty Robbins, Don Gibson, Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline, Connie Francis, Duane Eddy and many more.
This is the very first compilation of its kind, and is also the first release in a series which will similarly explore the careers further Nashville 'A' Team Session players, e.g. Chet Atkins, Hank Garland, Grady Martin, Boots Randolph, etc.
