Fay Claassen is recognised by music critics around the world as a jazz singer of international stature and allure. The greatest jazz diva of the Netherlands is part of the new generation of vocalists and on her ambitious new CD she concentrates on the repertoire of great female vocal icons: from Ella to Björk and many other famous ladies in between.
Accompanying Fay is a very large orchestra - more than 120 people, consisting of the WDR Big Band & the Rundfunk Orchester, with conducter/arranger Michael Abene. The result is an extraordinary musical journey with a choice of repertoire indicating Fay's very broad musical interests. Her wholly convincing interpretations of the songs on the album are full of conviction and she makes these totally her own. -
