Description
In the night and darkness, Hekate reigns. Consisting of three bodies, each with distinct qualities, she watches over the moon, crossroads, and holds the key to the portal between worlds.
Hekate (NO) is a vocal trio featuring Malin Alander, Silje Risdal Liahagen, and Synnove Brondbo Plassen--three singers who have all distinguished themselves as solo artists on the Norwegian music scene. Evigheten forestar (Eternity Awaits) is the group's debut album.
Slattetralling has deep roots in Norway, and after years as an underappreciated part of folk music, this vocal tradition has experienced a renaissance in recent decades. The album consists of slattetralling from different regions of the country, with improvisation as a key element. The three voices in the trio are both distinct and complementary, creating a dynamic soundscape with a broad spectrum of timbres.
Hekate was born from a desire to highlight slattetralling and a clear vision of song as the backbone of dance celebrations. With the goal of creating an ecstatic atmosphere for both dancers and listeners, they have crafted their own universe, driven by intense interplay and energy.
By drawing inspiration from the powerful, feminine energy historically associated with slattetralling and the strong sense of unity in vocal harmonization, the trio has conjured a potent musical brew--uncompromising folk singing in a club setting.
