Ivan Blomqvist, keyboard wizard and composer for Rohey and Mosambique, and contributor to Neon Ion (Natalie Sandtorv) and Linda Sundblad, releases his Jazzland Rec solo debut album, "Nu minns jag".
This album presents a different side of Ivan's musical world, with tracks that are contemplative, serene, melancholy, nostalgic and offering a clearer picture of his improvisational skills than previously. Simultaneously, he demonstrates his unique take on electronic processing and beatmaking.
With distinct nods to his inspirations, predecessors and mentors, where one might hear echoes of numerous artists from Keith Jarrett to Bugge Wesseltoft, from Chopin to Satie, from Radiohead to Alicia Keys, Blomqvist nevertheless lays his own path, offering a highly personal and autobiographical set of compositions and performances that have emotional and intellectual depth as well as stylistic breadth.
Through these evocative and melodic pieces, alongside the carefully controlled experimental elements and genre-traversing and improvisational exploration contained within them, Ivan Blomqvist establishes himself beyond question as a key figure among the young up-and-coming generation of jazz artists. -
