Description
Neil Feather has invented more than ten families of experimental musical instruments since 1970 - Made from flywheels, springs, strings, magnets, motors, flywheels, pendulums and bowling balls, the instruments are mechanical physics experiments for the purpose of creating new music.
Two LPs and a color booklet illuminate the breadth of these Instruments and the diversity of musicians around Baltimore's Improvised music scene - All of the pieces here are improvised duets with Neil Feather and one of eleven other musicians.
Sides A and B were recorded in 3 days in October 2018 at The Red Room in Baltimore MD. Neil was a founding member of the Red Room and most of the musicians have a close relationship with the collective. The musicians are Kristen Toedtman - vocals, Susan Alcorn - pedal steel guitar, Eric Franklin - theremin, Stewart Mostofsky - electronics, Rupert Wondolowski - vocals, Rose Hammer Burt - baritone sax, Sam Burt - Daxophone, and Nicole Mazarakis - contraption. Side C is duets with Neil and Rosie Langabeer as Popular Organ Fun Party. Rosie plays a 1974 Baldwin electric organ with a rhythm machine and a Mighty Wurlitzer theater organ. Side D features THUS, a long standing project with John Berndt that used the invented instruments of Neil Feather, John Berndt and others 1993-2010. Track 5 is a duet with Jason
Willet electronics. Double-LP set.
