  • Description

Debut album from genre-crossing quartet Let Spin that features members of Acoustic Ladyland, Led Bib, Moss Project and Efpi Records labelmates Beats & Pieces Big Band. Their music has been described as "knotty improv, rock fury - quirky themes, killer riffage - gleefully bizarre, sonic overload."

Let Spin were formed in June 2012 as a collaboration between four of the UK's top genre-crossing instrumentalists: guitarist Moss Freed (Moss Project), bassist Ruth Goller (Acoustic Ladyland), saxophonist Chris Williams (Led Bib) and drummer Finlay Panter (Beats & Pieces Big Band). Inspired by discovering a shared musical space the band quickly found their own unique language and just two months later they recorded their eponymous debut album, 'Let Spin'.

The members of Let Spin met through a merging of the London and Manchester music scenes. Goller and Williams have played together in various projects since their studies at the University of Middlesex, and both met Freed working with his group, Moss Project. Freed and Panter met on the Manchester music scene, playing together in many contexts, and through Freed moving to London the band was born.

With each member contributing compositions, influences as far-reaching as Rage Against The Machine, Beck, Bill Frisell, Jim Black and Middle Eastern folk music collide to form a cohesive mix of angular riffs, wistful melodies, euphoric improv and heavy grooves.

Personnel: Moss Freed (guitar), Ruth Goller (bass), Chris Williams (saxophone), Finlay Pante (drums)
