Description
Long before he became Dr Strangelove or Inspector Clouseau, Peter Sellers was a Goon and an up-and-coming radio & TV comedian and actor. He was also an occasional - and surprisingly successful - recording artist, registering hit records at levels which flew directly in the face of the UK's record industry's perceived wisdom at that time.
This compilation concentrates on Peter's solo recordings (you will find no Goonery herein!), drawn from his various 45s, EPs and LPs, between 1953 and 1962.
Included are the UK hit singles 'Any Old Iron', 'Goodness Gracious Me' and 'Bangers and Mash' (the latter two, of course, recorded with Sophia Loren), alongside key tracks from his three UK chart albums, The Best Of Sellers, Songs For Swinging Sellers and Peter And Sophia.
Also included are collectors' rarities like 'Jakka And The Flying Saucers (An Interplanetary Fairy Tale, parts 1 & 2)', 'Dipso-Calypso' and 'Never Never Land', all of which are virtually impossible to find elsewhere on CD.
