  • Description

SANTA SOMNIA - THE FOURTH ALBUM. Santa Somnia is an imaginary saint, shaped like a medieval folktale figure, who steals the sleep and childhood creativity of his victims to feed a kingdom of oblivion and torment. The album's lyrics follow the journey of a protagonist stripped of rest and innocence, wandering through a decaying dreamworld reminiscent of Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. Santa Somnia becomes an allegory of lost hope and the crushing weight of adulthood, drawing further thematic influence from the bleak darkness of Kentaro Miura's Berserk.

Santa Somnia is a sonic trip through a crumbling psyche--drenched in despair and shadows--ruled by the struggle against madness brought on by sleeplessness, the inner torment of depression, and the inevitable, sometimes merciful, pull of death.

The influence of FromSoftware and Berserk emerges through the album's cryptic, oppressive storytelling, where the line between nightmare and reality barely exists.

While rooted in the band's earlier works, the sound of Santa Somnia blends the crushing weight of doom metal with classic and thrash metal elements and injections of punk-rock melody, mirroring the emotional instability and mental agony woven throughout the lyrics.

    Description

Krownn feels like a band conjured from the mist of a forgotten fantasy, emerging in the city of Venice in 2012. Michele and Silvia (guitar/vocals and bass) found the spark that would ignite the band during a concert by the legendary Pentagram. Thus began their project -- a sonic alliance fueled by the likes of Black Sabbath, Danzig, Misfits, Type 0 Negative, Sleep, and Metallica. With drummer Elena joining their ranks, Krownn unleashed their first work in 2013: "Hyborian Age" (PRC Music), a soundscape that bows reverently to the world of Conan and other famed

(or obscure) fantasy sagas. The album's sound is deeply rooted in classic doom, yet it carries an epic quality, a heartfelt tribute to a universe of swords and sorcery. In 2014, the band ventured into even darker realms with "Magmafrost" (Taxi Driver Records). The doom became heavier and denser, drenched in fuzz and mystery. Their lyrics drew inspiration from the works of Howard, Moorcock, and Martin, while their riffs echoed like distant, lingering spells. Their music took them across Europe, sharing the stage with doom and stoner heavyweights

like Yob, Pallbearer, Zodiac, and Red Fang, while also landing them spots on various festivals and compilations. In 2017, the lineup expanded with the arrival of Nicola, ushering in a new chapter of doom-laden storytelling. Then, in 2019, from the depths of the abyss, "Bluedeep" (Jetglow Records) surfaced -- a

concept album that weaves together the tides of the "aqua granda" (Venice's legendary high waters) and the depths of the human soul, paying tribute to their beloved city. In 2020, the four-piece recorded "Twinblades", a two-track EP released exclusively in digital format. Fate intervened once again in 2022 when Mimmo took over drums after Elena's departure (following the birth of their first child). This new chapter brought an evolution in their sound -- remaining true to their roots while pushing into even heavier, more monumental territories with

"Santa Somnia" (2025). The lyrics, dark and cryptic, guide listeners through a dreamlike journey where reality dissolves, and the boundaries between dreams and nightmares fade like morning mist. With every note, Krownn weaves tales of lost worlds, forgotten heroes and gods -- melding magic and melody into an ever-evolving spell.
