Description
Benefiting from exceptional sound quality of the most modern remastering techniques, the reissues of Django Reinhardt by Label Ouest have established themselves as the most recent major work devoted to the music of the brilliant Manouche and superstar of Romani jazz.
From this reference collection, praised by the press, they offer Djangology - Rome 1949, published for the first time on vinyl, and the second (LP) in a planned series of four.
The Reinhardt and Grappelli sessions in Rome in 1949 constitute both the very last recordings of the two masters of European jazz, and the final recorded testimony of Django on acoustic guitar.
Accompanied by Italian pianist Gianni Safred, Reinhardt and Grappelli were at the height of their maturity. Here they offer interpretations of their classics; Djangology, Minor Swing, Daphne, and Troublant Bolero, plus a tip-of-the-hat to French song with Charles Trenet's Menilmontant, and La Mer.
