Founded in April 2006 by guitarist Alexandra, SABIENDAS have been a permanent fixture of the German underground scene for 19 years. Since their inception, they have stood for uncompromising American-style death metal inspired by the glorious early 1990s. It is old-school death metal that frequently draws comparisons from fans and press alike to early releases on Earache and Roadrunner Records.
The members' diverse musical backgrounds merge into a crushing sonic force, delivering a hammering impact that hits both the eardrums and neck muscles with full intensity, especially during their live performances.
After establishing a stable lineup in 2011 that remains unchanged to this day, SABIENDAS released their debut album "Restored to Life" the following year. The record enabled the band to establish themselves on larger stages and to build a reputation beyond Germany, performing across Europe from the North Sea to the Balkans.
With their second album "Column of Skulls" in 2015, the band successfully captured their live energy on record. For the first time, all songs were written collaboratively by the complete lineup, resulting in a cohesive and powerful release.
The third album, "Repulsive Transgression," was released worldwide in 2020 via Massacre Records and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both fans and critics. The well-rehearsed lineup and years of shared stage experience allowed for a consistent evolution of their songwriting, incorporating new influences while maintaining the unmistakable trademarks of SABIENDAS.
The long-awaited fourth album, "Puppeteer of Doom," was completed in the summer of 2025 and continues the band's chosen path with determination. Catchy hooks, driving riffs, and a relentlessly high pace once again define the record, delivering exactly what fans expect from SABIENDAS.
Drummer Toni Merkel once again handled the entire production. In recent years, he has significantly expanded his expertise through production work for bands such as Sodom. The band also decided to continue their collaboration with Bjorn Lensig for the artwork, who was responsible for the visual design of the previous album.
