Description
In 1956 Cy Laurie made some recordings for what were essentially budget priced American labels. They were never issued under his own name because he was under contract to the Esquire label. This is the first time they have all been presented together. It was a fine band with Alan Elsdon - a truly underrated British trumpeter - leading it.
The CD then includes some previously unissued tracks by the same line-up as well as a later one with the legendary Sonny Morris on trumpet. Other noted sidesmen are Diz Disley, Pat Hawes Ian Armit and Graham Stewart. Vocalist Beryl Bryden is featured on one track.
