  • Description

Although Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs were to become the best-known face of bluegrass, the style was originated by Bill Monroe in the 1940s. It was an updating of string-band music played by groups like the Carter Family, with driving rhythms in particular seperating bluegrass from other kinds of Country music, plus the prominent place usually given to banjo played in the unique three-finger Scruggs style.

Presented here are 23 original classic bluegrass tracks, played by the best-known artists and including the Bonnie & Clyde film hit 'Foggie Mountain Breakdown'.
