Description
'Cold Comfort +' is an album about romance, relationships, broken hearts, and mended bridges, mixing Ruthie Collins' autobiographical storytelling with cinematic piano ballads, guitar-driven country anthems, and atmospheric Americana songs.
Originally released in 2020 under the title 'Cold Comfort', the record is reborn as 'Cold Comfort +', a deluxe reissue featuring four new recordings. She rewrites the rules of the traditional breakup ballad with "Hypocrite," an introspective track co-written with fellow road warrior Natalie Stovall. Ruthie also flexes her muscles as a producer with acoustic renditions of "Hey Little Girl," "Joshua Tree," and "Wish You Were Here," all of which were recorded at her mother's home in rural New York during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
These acoustic tracks highlight the honest lyrics and rootsy hooks at the core of each song, while the album's Apple Exclusive version -- featuring spatial audio technology from Dolby Atmos, as well as music videos for "Joshua Tree," "Bad Woman," "Cold Comfort," and "Hypocrite" -- adds new layers to an already multi-dimensional album.
