Description
Following her critically acclaimed debut album, Two (Jazzland Recordings, 2023), violinist and composer Tuva Halse returns with Reconnection a contemplative and personal exploration of closeness, belonging, and renewal. Rooted in the Nordic jazz tradition, Reconnection paints vivid inner landscapes, tracing the passage of time and the quiet, essential process of reconnecting to familiar places while discovering new perspectives. Structured with a sense of clarity and balance reminiscent of early classical forms, the music gently nods to the Baroque era while remaining firmly anchored in a modern Nordic soundscape. Melodic yet sparse, Halse's quintet moves through shifting moods and textures, where voice and instruments intertwine.
Tuva Halse has in recent years established herself as one of the most distinctive young voices in Nordic jazz, receiving both national and international acclaim. Honoured as an NTNU ambassador for her "playful lyrical nerve and rare, courageous sensitivity in tone and expression,", she has developed a signature sound that spans a broad range of genres. Her quintet features four of the most exciting young voices in Norwegian jazz today. Through compelling interplay and strong presence, they invite audiences into a lyrical soundscape where impulses from Nordic jazz and folk music meet the roots of classical tradition.
