Description
After a summer away from touring to welcome her second child, Siobhan Miller began writing with friends from Glasgow's vibrant musical community - A few songs for her return to the stage soon grew into an album she hadn't planned to make: While We Have the Time.
With a short window in the diary and a band she had played with for years, Miller recorded at Glasgow's GloWorm over three days. Just twelve days separated the first session and the finished master. Releasing the songs quickly was part of the idea, keeping listeners close to the moment in which the music was made.
Her sixth studio album returns to a rootsy, acoustic folk sound. Across ten original songs, fiddle, guitar, piano, bass and drums surround the clear, expressive voice of the four-time Scots Singer of the Year.
The title track finds joy in a late-night house party; "Love You More" follows a couple through a lifetime together; and "Measured in Gold" calls on us to stand by our neighbours. These are songs about the people we hold close, and making time for each other while we can.
Guests include Eddi Reader, Kris Drever, Cahalen Morrison, Donald Shaw and Fergus McCreadie. This CD edition comes in a six-panel card sleeve with a 24-page illustrated lyric booklet.
