Description
Twenty-seven tracks of classic bluegrass released by The McCormick Brothers between 1954 and 1962. Apart from their self-penned numbers, other songs are from the pens of Ira and Charlie Louvin, Rusty and Doug Kershaw and Felice and Boudleaux Bryant.
The McCormick's were one of the first acts signed to the Hickory label, owned by Nashville royalty Fred Rose and Roy Acuff. Several of the tracks show off the intricate and high-class banjo playing of Haskel McCormick and the mandolin playing of Kelly McCormick.
This is the perfect introduction to one of the, almost forgotten, names that helped shape the sound of bluegrass music in the 1950s and is a rare release of The McCormick Brothers' recordings that should be well received by their many existing fans.
The CD booklet contains all writer credits, recording dates and catalogue numbers as well as a biography of The McCormick's and various label scans, press ads and other contemporary items.
