Reissue of Michel Portal's 1993 album Any Way , which was recorded between 1991 and 1992 across several studios in Paris and New York. The album gathers around Michel Portal an exceptional ensemble of musicians drawn from the European and American jazz scenes, including Victor Bailey, Kenny Wheeler, Gil Goldstein, Trilok Gurtu, Nguyen Le, Kevin Eubanks, Robin Eubanks, Jean-Francois Jenny-Clark and Daniel Humair. The result is a sonic journey that perfectly illustrates Portal's freedom and instrumental versatility across clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone and soprano saxophone.
Any Way is reissued here as a commemorative reminder of Michel Portal's incredible contribution to European jazz, and to mark his passing on the 12th of February.
