  • Description

Icelandic guitarist Omar Gudjonsson has admired the pedal steel guitar and the artistry of Daniel Lanois for decades. His fascination deepened when he heard Pete Drake's playing on George Harrison's All Things Must Pass. That moment sparked a decision: he had to own a pedal steel and explore its possibilities. After finding a style that felt authentic, Omar recorded his first pedal steel-focused album, Omar Fortioar, two years ago - a project where he even mimicked Icelandic opera singers. From there, his writing evolved, leading him to revisit childhood memories and create the compositions that became 210.

Omar Guojonsson is one of Iceland's most versatile and respected musicians, known for his distinctive guitar work and innovative compositions. In addition to his solo projects, Omar is a founding member of acclaimed Icelandic bands ADHD, Roforofo, and LON, each celebrated for pushing boundaries in jazz, experimental, and alternative music. His work consistently blends emotional depth with sonic exploration, earning him recognition on the international stage.

The album features nine original compositions, each named after a memorable person or place from that formative period in Omar's life. This nostalgic yet forward-thinking project explores identity and memory through a unique sonic concept: two trios recorded live together in the same room, creating a dynamic and immersive soundscape.

Omar leads both trios from the center of the sound field, surrounded by an exceptional lineup of musicians: drummers Magnus Trygvason Eliassen and Tommy Baldu, and pianists Magnus Johann Ragnarsson and Tomas Jonsson.
