Description
Written at home during the pandemic lockdown over the course of March-October 2020, and recorded in early 2021, New Money is a 9 song album by Portland electropop musician, Logan Lynn, produced in collaboration with longtime co-writer Gino Mari.
Back to his electropop roots after collaborations with 80s popstar Tiffany, The Dandy Warhols and Styrofoam since 2018, New Money is an invitation to dance the last few years off. The record finds Logan Lynn exploring themes of life in the face of suffering, Covid loneliness, and existential danger on It's Been Forever' ('This is the growing edge, This is the dark part in between...oh God, it's been forever since we were together') and 'Is There Anyone Else Like This In The World' ('The truth is the truth and I want you to know that I want you to find somewhere safe and warm, away from home), and navigating longterm addiction recovery on 'Sit and Spin' ('Well mama told me there'd be days like this but no one warned me that the nights are even harder...Pump me full of whatever you've found, I'll find a way back to love').
On the album closer, 'Here's To Us', Lynn sings about redemption and loss ('Life knocks you around and makes fools from the highest ground, it pulls you under and whirls you about.') and while these are recurring themes throughout this new work, Lynn has centered it all in queer power, gay joy, and the belief that we will someday come back together, at shows, in crowds, and on the dancefloor.
