Description
Logan Lynn's SOFTCORE is a reclamation of himself - of his love, his personal agency, his sexuality - and, according to Lynn, the record is "equal parts 'FUCK YOU!' and 'LET'S FUCK'"
"These songs were all written after a really rough breakup and are about my re-emergence into the world after being hurt by someone I accidentally let get way too close". Lynn continued, "SOFTCORE is a record of my coming alive again, and coming back to myself in the face of pretty extreme betrayal. It's a party album in a way - loud, wild, unhinged and abrasive at times - but it's also a collection of tender songs about longing and togetherness; about wanting desperately to stay soft and open to love finding me. I needed to explore what happens to people when we are finally released from the cages that have imprisoned us. I think this is one of those times in my life. I am cageless and free. That's how this record sounds and feels to me. Cageless. Free."
Spanning 11 tracks and bookended by covers of songs by SMOG and Logan Lynn's friends and Portland music scene legends Chromatics, the album is Lynn's follow-up to 2021's New Money (his debut for legendary record label Kill Rock Stars) and comes on the heels of the release of the Distracted EP, a collaboration between Logan Lynn and Yellow Trash Can (iLoveMakonnen, Nova), which came out on KRS in 2023.
