Description
Folk-rock group Yo Yo Mundi gives the music of the Monferrato region of northern Italy a contemporary twist. With a host of gusts they perform new arrangements of traditional songs as well as their own compositions that are rooted in those traditions.
In this their tenth album, folk music and original songwriting mingle with world music creating a new artistic dimension, the fruit of four years of research and the compositions it inspired. In 2004 the Guardian described the group's music as a "potent blast of political pop: the Clash with accordion." Eight years on, their folk-rock sound has transformed itself into something deeply enriched with harmonic and varied rhythms and gentle dialect chants. It is thanks to this wide palette of sound colours that makes this album special amongst the artistic productions of this Monferrato band.
The internationally renowned vocalist Paolo Conte, who also comes from Monferrato, endorses 'Munfra' calling it a 'magnificent record' in his liner notes for the album. -
