Description
Vol.6 in the series following on from the triple album set British Traditional Jazz - A Potted History. The British Traditional Jazz scene split into various styles and one was a group of bands who chose to play the 'Classic' Jazz typified by the 1920s bands of King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Clarence Williams et al.
The set includes some of the most significant bands playing this style: Mike Daniels & His Delta Jazzmen, Steve Lane & His Famous Southern Stompers, Colin Kingwell's Jazz Bandits, The Temperance Seven and others. The bands range from those with a fanatical adherence to the style to those which took the style as a basis to develop their own take on it.
