This CD compilation is representative of the artists and musicians who made their mark playing the Texas Dance Hall circuit. The project was organized by the New Braunfels Museum of Art & Music in conjunction with Geronimo Trevino III, whose book- Dance Halls and Last Calls, provided both the inspiration and the historical research necessary to bring the project to fruitation. A wonderful collection of legendary artists like Lefty Frizzell, Johnny Cash, Bob Wills, and Floyd Tillman, and a newer generation of Texas country artists like Pat Green and Pauline Reese provide the signposts for a unique musical journey through the dance halls of Texas: a timeless adventure that makes you feel like you're standing on a sawdust dance floor, eagerly waiting for the next song to begin.
