Description
This 61 minute CD was recorded in Hamburg in October 2002. The band is comprised of four top European musicians, three Germans (Ulf Meyer, guitar; Martin Wind, bass; Wolf Kerschek, piano) and one Dane (Alex Riel, drums). Half of the tunes are original compositions, the rest are older jazz standards ("Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans" and Duke Ellington’s "Ain’t Got Nothing But the Blues") and newer jazz standards ("Groove Merchant"), also including some Latin inspiration ("O Grande Amor"). Meyer has a fine, flowing feel, sometimes reminiscent of Pat Metheny. Riel is one of the best drummers in Europe today and the four musicians on this CD are highly compatible, making the music sound effortless and relaxed.
