In the release Nothing Disappears (Ingenting forsvinner), two generations of artistry come together in a powerful and expressive musical experience. Composer Marcus Paus has set to music the poetry of his father, the beloved singer-songwriter and poet Ole Paus. The work is performed by renowned mezzosoprano Tora Augestad, in collaboration with NyNorsk Messingkvintett.
Ingenting forsvinner is a musical reflection on the transience of life and the power of memory. With a distinctive blend of melodic depth and lyrical gravity, the work touches on existential themes in a way that is both moving and timeless. Marcus Paus's signature musical language--marked by modern harmonies and lyrical lines--provides a compelling foundation for Ole Paus's poetic universe.
Marcus Paus in his own words: "Working with my father was not only formative and joyful for both of us-- it was also a kind of healing. It built a bridge across childhood, across wounds and longing, and connected us through loving enthusiasm and laughter. There was no distance between us when we wrote together. We were quick, both of us, and shared much about how we experienced the world. Besides, my life had come to resemble his; I had long since adopted most of his vices as my own, and we wrote from similar horizons of experience. [...]"
