Description
Stage Door Pop presents the first ever CD release of Tommy Steele's So This Is Broadway album, digitally remastered from the original studio master tapes. Recorded in 1964 as a tribute to Broadway musicals, this acclaimed album features Tommy performing showstopping songs from classic stage productions, backed by spectacular big-band arrangements by Geoff Love and produced by EMI legend Norman Newell.
Recorded shortly after his triumph in Half A Sixpence and just before his Broadway debut, the album captures Tommy at a pivotal moment in his career. Later retitled Everything's Coming Up Broadway! for its US release, it was described by Tommy himself as "probably one of the best show albums ever done.". Highlights include Tommy's versions of 'Something's Coming', 'Hey There', 'If I Were a Bell' and 'Happy Talk'.
Previously available on vinyl, cassette and 8-track, these recordings make their long-awaited CD debut in this special limited edition celebrating Tommy Steele's 70th anniversary in showbusiness and 90th birthday. Presented in a deluxe digipak sleeve, the release boasts liner notes by Sir Tommy Steele's biographer Sebastian Lassandro.
So This is Broadway is a Limited Edition release of 300 copies only.
