Description
This new CD from Tilman Hoppstock presents works in the form of "Variations", as well as many others, such as the "Double", Passacaglia", "Mutazione" or "Capriccio".
Variation means change, and especially in the realm of tones, this is a particularly popular means of creating developments. This recording reflects the compositional development of the variation structure through the ages. Beginning with compositions from the Baroque period with Froberger, Buxtehude and Bach, we move through the Classical period with Beethoven, Carulli and Matiegka to Romantic guitar music by Willcocks and Tansman. In the "Garden of Dreams" by contemporary composer Karl-Wieland Kurz, the modern "Variation" is developed over a Renaissance theme.
