Description
This captivating collection of American masterpieces for flute and piano includes an arrangement by Samuel Barber of the second movement of his Piano Concerto entitled "Canzone", Aaron Copland's "Duo", Eldin Burton's "Sonatina", sonatas by Lowell Liebermann and Robert Muczynski, and a short piece called "Voyage" by John Corigliano. The performers are the award-winning Canadian flautist Susan Hoeppner and the pianist Lydia Wong.
A graduate of The Juilliard School in New York, Susan Hoeppner was the Grand Prize Winner of the Canadian Music Competition, the first woodwind player ever to receive this honour in the competition's history. She went on to win the CBC Young Performer's Competition, and first prize in the Olga Koussevitsky Competition for Woodwinds held at the Lincoln Centre in New York.
