  • Description

On this collection we spotlight Slim Whitman's vocal ability as a singer of love songs. Whilst the 1950s had catapulted him to worldwide fame with his legendary "Singing Guitar" sound with its echoes, yodels and soaring steel guitar "shooting arrows", the 1960s would see Slim settle into a calmer period with a new sound, much less touring and a pattern of releasing two or three albums per year.

This CD presents the two classic albums "Sings Annie Laurie" & "Slim Whitman Sings" in their entirety. They illustrate the change of style very well. Gone is the steel guitar, gone are the belting vocals and dramatic falsetto leaps of the 50s. In their place is the beautiful, emotive and mature singing of a man with an impressive singing range and an even more impressive command of his voice.

Issued in wonderful stereo, these recordings have now been lovingly restored for a superb sound.
