UK debut release from seven piece traditional Irish band who have been drawing comparisons with the great bands Planxty and The Bothy Band. Already a huge hit in Europe, Shantalla have toured with Altan, Liam O'Flynn, Sharon Shannon, Dervish and Lunasa.Comprising of four brilliant Irish musicians and the Sandy Denny-like, Scottish vocalist (& bodhran player) Helen Flaherty. Shantalla play a mixture of traditional Irish & Scottish songs and tunes, self-composed material and contemporary songs. Stand-outtracks include "The Dreadful End of Marianna for Sorcery" written by Karnie Polwart (Malinky, Battlefield Band), "John Riley" taken from Tim O'Brien's album The Crossing and the Breton hymn "Spered Hollvedel", originally made famous by Alan StivellShantalla will be touring the UK throughout the summer.
