Description
Sexteto Mayor was founded in 1973 and is still considered to be one of the leading tango orchestras in the world. As well as tracks recorded by the latest line-up of the orchestra, there's the added bonus of five tracks with the original founder members of the group, José Libertella and Luis Stazo, on the bandoneon.
The compositions and arrangements of Libertella and Stazo have been the continuous element of Sexteto Mayor. Deeply rooted in the Argentinean tradition they were not averse to modern influences and would often interweave a waltz or a milonga into the arrangements.
