Especially in the concertante works, Pachel proves to be a brilliant virtuoso who, in the arrangements of Bach's organ chorales, also knows how to blend into the organ sound. Nora Koch's harp playing adds a new facet to the already colourful spectrum in Fauré's "In Paradisum" - and Bartók's "Romanian Folk Dances".
It is fitting that Pachel plays a Romanian instrument. And of course the encore must not be missed: "The Lark" by the Romanian pan flute idol Anghelus Dinicu demands the utmost dexterity - a feast for Sebastian Pachel, who is assured of jubilant applause with this bravura finale.
