Description
RE-PRESS: CD ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 2017
- Three albums from the late, great, legendary NWOBHM guitarist Paul Samson
- Including the 1986 solo album ‘Joint Forces’ produced by Jo Julian, a fine precursor to Paul Samson’s Empire who were formed to promote the release with shows supporting Iron Maiden among others.
- Plus its follow up, a five track mini-album titled ‘And There It Is’ that was expanded to 11-tracks on its re- issue on CD in 1993, and retitled ‘1988’.
- And ‘Samson’, later retitled ‘Nineteen Ninety-Three’, which saw Paul Samson return to lead vocals, reforming the 1977 incarnation of the band with Chris Aylmer and Clive Burr (who was subsequently replaced by Rogues’ drummer Tony Tuohy for the recording).
Samson’s career goes back to the mid-1970s London pub and club circuit, where early members included future Squeeze drummer Paul Gunn, and ex Zzebra bassist John McCoy. By 1977 the line-up had stabilised with future Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, and ex- Steamhammer, Castle and Tiger Lily bassist Chris Aylmer. There followed a veritable who’s who of NWOBHM icons passing through the band’s ranks prior to these key late ‘80s albums.
