Description
Debut album on 33 Jazz from Paris based UK saxophonist Sam Coombes. Blending a wide range of modern jazz influences, from hard bop, through modal and funk, Coombes' playing has received complimentary responses from critics on both sides of the Channel.
An album of mostly original compositions by Sam Coombes, featuring Damien Argentieri (piano), Mauro Gargano (double bass) and Antoine Banville (drums) on 8 tracks and UK based mucians David Patrick (piano), Mario Caribé (double bass) and Tom Gordon (drums) on the other 3.
Jean-Marc Gelin of the French 'Dernieres Nouvelles du Jazz' magazine has described Coombes as "an out of the ordinary saxophonist equipped with incredible technical abilities" comparing his playing on record to that of Kenny Garrett and Jackie McLean. -
