Description
Despite the fame and popularity of Tchaikovsky’s works such as the ballet scores of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty, the Serenade for string orchestra, the last three symphonies (in particular the sixth, the “Pathétique�),
the opera’s (in particular Eugene Onegin), the first piano concerto and last but not least the violin concerto, his output for string quartet has not yet reached the international audience as much as one could expect, considering the high quality of the compositions.
RUSQUARTET was founded in 2001 at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the tutelage of Galina Soboleva, cellist of the Prokofiev Quartet. The members of Rusquartet are DMA graduates from the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where they have been students of Dmitry Shebalin (violist of the
Borodin Quartet).
