This album features the World Première recording of the passionate Sonata for Violin and Piano in E-flat by Ivor Gurney, a composer celebrated primarily for his song settings, yet who is revealed here as an incredibly skilled author of chamber music. This emotionally intense and compelling piece is complemented by the much-loved Violin Sonata by Edward Elgar, and Lionel Sainsbury's virtuosic 'Soliloquy' for solo violin.
