Description
The Dolphin Music Group are proud to announce the release of "What About Me?" - the sensational new album from the "The Voice" runner-up and hugely popular singer/entertainer and multi-award winner Richie Hayes.
Richie has been in the entertainment world from the age of four and has appeared in all aspects of the entertainment business. He spent a lot of his teenage years at the Theatre Royal Waterford with practically every musical society in the City. In 2000 Richie made his debut at The Gaiety Theatre's pantomime "Aladdin" as Wishiee Washie, to rave reviews, and continues there as a resident performer.
This album should appeal to all. As fans would expect, the songs and performances on the new album are incredibly powerful and many classics have received definitive interpretations including "What About Me? - the first song Richie sang at the live shows of "The Voice", "The Book of Love" - a beautiful song first recorded by Peter Gabriel, "February Song" - originally a hit for Josh Groban and performed here with a more Celtic "feel" and "Lady" - which has been sung by Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie and is dedicated on this recording to Richie's wife, Erica.
There are also a number of new original compositions especially written for this recording including 2 new songs/powerful ballads from Richie's long time collaborator, renowned Limerick songwriter Don Mescall - "Walk You Home" and "Free World". The debut single "Superman" tells a story about growing up and dealing with the pressures of life for young people today. "Get On With Your Short Life", although a tongue and cheek nod to Richie's small stature, is also a superb track and was a massive hit for Richie's "The Voice" mentor Brian Kennedy.
The album "What About Me?" points towards new musical territories for Richie and features eleven tracks that are well crafted and beautifully performed containing stories to which everyone can relate.
