Richard Smallwood has been one of the most important names in contemporary gospel, both as a recording artist and composer, since forming The Richard Smallwood Singers in 1977. His melding of classical textures with gospel has won him a wide audience and many hits. Such artists as Whitney Houston,Yolanda Adams and Destiny's Child have recorded his songs.
This compilation is drawn from three albums ('Textures', 'Portrait' and 'Visions') recorded by The Richard Smallwood Singers for Word Recordings from 1987-1991, all of which have long been out of print (and one of which has never been on CD).
The title track is one of Richard Smallwood's most popular hits, a song that is sung in churches across the USA every week. The Richard Smallwood Singers are one of those groups who appeal to fans of Black Gospel and Christian music as well as fans of both sophisticated gospel and earthy church music. -
