This album is a selection of the music from the most dramatic moments from the 1950s TV series 'Victory at Sea' about naval combat during World War Two. Famous for its music score, eloquent narration and combat footage. The music was by the successful composer Richard Rodgers of Oklahoma! fame and arranger Russell Bennett.
When Rodgers and Bennett came to work on the soundtrack for Victory at Sea they gave to the themes, melodies and movements the form and structure of a symphony, a colour and feeling that matched the images on screen perfectly.
