Description
The two-disc album includes recordings of two concertos by Fryderyk Chopin - adored by pianists and listeners. These works invariably surprise us with the possibility of reinterpreting them, thus showing their next, as-yet-unknown facet.
This new orchestration shows the values of the usually underestimated orchestral part, emphasizes the secondary elements of the score and the role of dialogue between instruments. Experiments with phrase, articulation, unrestricted tempi, mystical lyricism and virtuosity that do not disturb the logic of the musical narrative are strengths of this innovative exploration of both concertos.
Polish pianist Radoslaw Sobczak, together with the Podlasie Cham-ber Orchestra and conductor Kazimierz Dabrowski, took advantage of this oppor-tunity. It is a creation completely different from the one that may still be remembered by fans of the Chopin Competition who followed the preparations of the Polish team in 2000. Sobczak, back then recognized with the award for the best Polish participant, today presents the liberated facet of a mature musician.
