Description
Following on from Jasmine Records' two previously successful releases ('It Had To Be You: The Complete Early Singles' and 'In London, Hollywood and Paris'), they continue the Petula Clark story into the 1960s.
In addition to scoring her first chart-topper in Britain with 'Sailor' (a concert favourite to this day), she also conquered France, and scored #1 hits there and in Belgium, Italy, Germany and even Singapore! This amazing four-CD collection includes NINE #1 hits.
For the first time, all of Petula's early '60s recordings in English, French, German and Italian are collected together on one set in chronological order, grouped by language for ease of listening. Hits like 'Sailor' and 'Romeo' can be heard in both English and French, amongst her many chart successes from the era. There are also French covers of 'Save the Last Dance For Me', 'Calendar Girl' and 'Ramblin' Rose'.
As well as all these songs remastered in their original versions, there are two complete and highly collectable jazz albums: 'In Hollywood', recorded with big bands in Los Angeles (available on CD for the first time in its rare original mono mix) and 'In Other Words', a late-night session with a small trio. These are rounded off by collaborations with her pianist Joe "Mr. Piano" Henderson, and a chance to hear some of their compositions for each other. After hearing all this, you'll know why a British EP at the time exclaimed "Pet-Ooh-La-La!"
