MADFISH RE-ISSUE 1985 BONUS LIVE ALBUM + BY PROLIFIC UK-BASED VISIONARY PETER HAMMILL FOR FIRST TIME ON VINYL

The third re-release from Peter Hammill's k group, 'The Margin' gave an insight into the furious energy of the beat music Hammill's cracking live band produced. 'The Margin +' was originally a bonus CD that came with 'The Margin' from Hammill's own label Fie!.

Primarily known as singer and songwriter for Van der Graaf Generator, throughout forty-plus years of performing, Hammill's work has encompassed singer-songwriter balladry, orchestral/ambient experiments, brutal noise-based rock, ambitious prog epics and 34 solo albums. His work has led to him receiving two Prog Awards: the first ever Visionary Award in 2012; and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016 alongside VdGG bandmates.

Peter Hammill performed with the k group in the early 80s, following VdGG's second split, writing more songbased, punchy new-wave rock. Originally set up as a touring band for Peter Hammill's solo work, Hammill brought material to the studio, where the band gave fresh and energetic backing to Hammill's philosophical lyrics.

'+' features the original masters from the 1985 release, which were live recordings from the band's early 80s performances including the audience background sounds, unlike 'The Margin', allowing listeners to be transported to front of stage during the iconic performances from the k group. The instantly recognisable black and white photograph of Peter Hammill, used for original tour posters and 'The Margin' front cover, has been re-imagined for the new, 2017 album cover for '+'.

Hammill describes the band as "not exactly a Beat Group but probably the closest ensemble I've ever been in which would come under that category... And the K group really was something else."
