Description
Born in Germany in 1873, Max Reger is one of the most important composers of the Late-Romantic era. A brilliant organist and a fine pianist, his music was strongly influenced by Bach, its academic rectitude leading to a number of major teaching appointments. He also shows in his piano music influences of Brahms and Mendelssohn, the textures rich in the harmonic invention, with thematic material that is immediately attractive and most effectively handled.
