Description
On this new recording from DUX, Pawel Losakiewicz and Robert Morawskipresent George Friederic Handel's (1685-1759) Sonatas for Violin and Piano, Op 1, contrary to the tradition of historical performance practice, on authentic, period instruments, here the artists strive for the opposite: Losakiewicz and Morawski consciously interpret these works in the spirit of modern music making, embracing the context in which this music is performed and listened to, on the instruments of today.
Handel himself preferred to leave room for interpretation within his works, and improvisation was commonplace within baroque performance practice. It was this idea that the Losakiewicz and Morawski explored through the process of recording this album.
The works are performed here by Polish instrumentalists: Pawel Losakiewicz, violinist, chamber musician and teacher associated with the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, member of the Wilanów String Quartet, and Robert Morawski, pianist, chamber musician and teacher, winner of many prestigious awards, involved in music education both at the University of Music in Warsaw and at numerous masterclasses.
