Description
The follow-up to the 2006 ECMA nominated and critically acclaimed release 'Hinterland'. Produced by multi Juno Award winner and multi-instrumentalist Steve Dawson, this recording finds Old Man Luedecke working with a full band for the first time. Musicians include John Raham (The Be Good Tanyas, Kinnie Starr) on drums, Mark Beaty (The Be Good Tanyas) on bass and Adrian Dolan (The Bills) on fiddle as well as Steve Dawson on guitars. Alice Dawson, Rose Cousins and The Sojourners provide back-up vocals.
Old Man Luedecke uses the rhythm and textures of the banjo as his primary songwriting tool. The rhythm of the old time clawhammer and fingerpicked banjo meets the rhythm of modern lyrics and melodies to create a unique and exciting interplay. The songs carry on the themes from 'Hinterland': the fears and joys of following your dreams for love and happiness in city and country. Drawing on inspiration from a deep well of folk music, Luedecke offers a modern take on an old songster tradition.
