Description
The Vocalist contrived contemplative chamber-jazz in which her voice likes to blend with the instrumental lines, a quality which is charming and individual."
Music is like a mosaic: the interplay of differently coloured instruments creates a whole. ngela Tröndle's band Mosaik possesses very individual colours: Siegmar Brecher (reeds), Valentin Czihak (bass), Stefan Heckel (piano, melodica) and Philipp Kopmajer (drums). They frame ngela Tröndle's crystal-clear voice with extremely fine nuances.
Although the young native of Salzburg began her musical career on the violin and piano, her true instrument is her voice which she knows how to employ with consummate skill. But it's not only as a singer but also as a composer of sophisticated yet uncomplicated sounding music that she proves her talent on the debut CD "Dedication to a city". With the exception of one track (Track 9), only originally compositions are to be found on the CD. Some of the pieces do without lyrics entirely, she wrote some of the lyrics herself and, for three of the pieces, English translations by E. Snow of poems by R.M. Rilke, who she discovered whilst studying in New York in the summer of 2006, are used.
New York provided me with a lot of inspiration and energy for new music", explains ngela Tröndle. "In the 3 months I spent there, I was constantly impressed by the variety that this city has to offer: Artists from every imaginable field; people with unbelievably exciting life stories; creative music on every corner and an open and friendly mentality which afforded me such an insight into life. Dedication to a city – Dedication to New York".
