An Anthology of Tibetan Classical Songs is the second part of a trilogy with Tibetan musical styles, sung by Namgyal Lhamo. This is the first cd worldwide dedicated exclusively to classical Tibetan music.
For this cd Namgyal selected those songs that always struck her as a beautiful combination of musical expression, religious meaning and personal memories. She also included one opera song.
The classical songs are all written in the formal court language, not in colloquial Tibetan. Namgyal accompanies herself on the lute (dranyen) and dulcimer (gyumang), or a combination of both. Beautiful and captivating music, surprisingly accessible.
