On 29 July 1995, Greek composer, conductor and cosmopolitan turned 70 and celebrated this milestone on 411 May with a magnificent concert at the Philharmonie in Munich's Gasteig. He was accompanied by Maria Farantouri, knownworldwide as the ideal interpreter of his songs, the renowned bouzouki player LakisKarnezis and a band of nine other musicians. This celebration of contemporary Greeksong was also one of the few concerts at which Theodorakis himself sang his ownsongs. He sang 'Agapi mou', which was made famous by Melina Mercouri. Other songsinclude 'Sotiris Petroulas', 'Pou petaxe to Agori mou', '18 November & To GElasto Paidi'and many more.
