Description
When the jazz world was celebrating Louis Armstrong's 100th birthday, we decided to perform a Louis Armstrong-tribute. At that time we had been working together regularely for one and a half yeras. Over the time and after many live gigs, we became increasingly familiar with and impressed by Louis Armstrongs type of music. His work, his spirit and und his soulfulness inspired us to record this CD. The tracks forge a bridge over Armstrong's life's work, starting with songs from his Hot Five and Hot Seven (1925-1928) followed by standards of the Swing-Ära, which accompanied him to the end of his carreer (1971). But we also cover the real big commercial hits of the Louis Armstrong All Stars, when he landed smash hits with "Mack the Knife", "Hello Dolly" and "Cabaret".
